Shawn Elizabeth Killinger was born on November 2, 1972, just outside of Detroit.
Her early years were spent in that area, and she was known for her involvement in the community theatre.
Family : At the age of 11, due to her father’s work, her family relocated to Mexico City.
Education : They stayed there for four years, and she attended The American School Foundation in Mexico. She gained fluency in Spanish due to her time spent there.
At the age of 18, Shawn was admitted into Pennsylvania State University, where she eventually graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
During her time at the university, she took part in a study abroad program that gave her the opportunity to complete part of her degree in Geneva, Switzerland.
After graduation, in an attempt to take full advantage of her potential, she made the move to New York City to pursue a career in Broadcast Journalism.

Shawn’s first job out of university was with the prestigious CBS’ Page Program. She was selected out of a wide pool of applicants and had said she found this job boring but was grateful for the experience.
After doing her time on the Page Program, she was offered another role with CBS, this time with their evening news programs.
For close to 2 years, she worked on programs such as Evening News with Dan Rathers, The Late Show with David Letterman and CBS’s “60 Minutes” as a junior assistant. Her roles included everything from getting coffee to logging tapes.
After catching the eye of a Fox executive, she was then offered what would be her first on-camera role. She became a General Assignment Reporter for Fox affiliate WUHF-TV in Rochester, New York.
