Bob’s life was a testament to unwavering dedication, relentless pursuit of excellence, and enduring love. He was 80 years old.
Bob was born on September 4th, 1943, in Brookline, Massachusetts, to his parents Henry and Mary Guindon. His life’s journey was marked by remarkable achievements and an enduring love story with his beloved wife, Patricia “Pattie” Guindon (nee Dorsey), whom he met at the tender age of 13. Their love story was one for the ages, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage, having tied the knot on October 5th, 1963. Together, they raised two remarkable sons, Christopher and Craig, as well as a furry family of seven golden retrievers whom they affectionately referred to as their “hairy kids.”
Bob’s life was characterized by three distinct and successful careers, each reflecting his diverse talents and unwavering commitment to excellence. His journey began as a professional baseball player, signing with the Red Sox right out of high school at the age of 17, known then as “Bobby Guindon.” His baseball career took him and his young family on an exciting journey throughout the United States.
During the baseball offseason, Bob ventured into the world of finance, working with State Street Bank and Trust in Boston. This experience laid the foundation for his next adventure with Wang Laboratories in Massachusetts, where he played a pivotal role in the impressive growth of the burgeoning technology industry. After dedicating 15 years to Wang, Bob and Pattie embraced the world of entrepreneurship, owning and operating The Inn at Thorn Hill in Jackson, New Hampshire. Bob found joy in entertaining his guests in the inn’s pub during their five-year stint as innkeepers.
Following their inn-keeping venture, the Guindons embarked on a new chapter by moving to Salt Lake City, Utah. Here, Bob took on a leadership role with Covey Leadership, leaving an indelible mark on the organization. He later retired as Chief Operating Officer.
Bob Guindon’s life was a testament to the pursuit of excellence, love, and the indomitable spirit of adventure. He touched the lives of many with his warmth, enthusiasm, and dedication to all that he pursued.
