After Rajat finished his Master’s degree (M Com), he was employed by Janardan Thakur, a journalist who had just quit Ananda Bazar Patrika to start a new syndicate column as a researcher. Eventually, he moved to the Onlooker Magazine and worked as a trainee, and in 1985 he became its editor.
After working for three years for the magazine, he moved to work as an editor at Sunday Observer and then worked on The Daily again as the editor.
On his show, Rajat has interviewed more than 750 guests, and currently, his show Aap Ki Adalat celebrated 21 years of broadcast thereby making it the longest-running show in India’s television history. Also, he works on the prime-time show Aaj Ki Baat on India TV as a host. He also was one of the presidents of the Delhi Cricket Association.
