Name: Tom Ramiccio

Date and place of birth: Patterson, NJ, 12-20-1961

Office sought: City Commissioner District 4, Boynton Beach

List, in order of importance, the three most important issues in your community and explain what you have done or would do about each.

Answer: 1. Complete Town Square- will work with Time Equities to ensure that they create a World class destination complete with a hotel, parking for city employees and affordable housing for essential workers, nurses, first responders etc. I am a member of the Planning & Development Board in November I made the motion to lower the height of buildings from 150 ft to 85. My desire is to create a downtown destination district changing the cities codes to encourage sensible, responsible projects that transform downtown into a destination district complete with unique shops, el fresco dining and public spaces for gathering for special events. ” all downtowns have great public spaces” tom ramiccio

Answer : 2. Affordable Housing for essential workers- I will form a public/ private partnership with Bethesda Hospital , Boynton’s largest private employer to build a medical residential community built along Seacrest for nurses and first responders. The city of Boynton Beach employees would also like to live in the city they serve. These two public/ private concepts will be a great pilot project.

Answer: 3. Establish Community Trust- I will begin the healing process within the community to build trust after several years of silence by city officials. The community needs strong leadership and guidance to resolve these trust issues. First we need to heal the rife within the African/ American community by holding ” community healing meetings” the death of SJ Davis and the silence that followed is unacceptable. This coupled with the ” whitewashing of the first African/ American fire chiefs mural causing costly litigation and violating the communities trust must end. The most upsetting issue is the firing of our long time city manager and the hiring of my opponents husbands partner in the police dept.

This coup of City hall by the Police union has violated the communities trust especially when Aimee Kelley was appointed to fire the city manager and hire her husbands partner at PD.

How serious a problem in your community is overdevelopment, and would you support or oppose specific growth limits, such as requiring a supermajority vote for land use amendments? Why or why not?

Answer: Overdevelopment leads to traffic congestion, crime and quality of life issues. As a member of the Planning Board I led the charge changing the core of downtown from A TOD ( transit oriented development) to a downtown district complete with shops, el fresco dining and public gathering spots. transforming the core of downtown into a community destination for residents and visitors alike.Would not support a supermajority for land use amendments. Sensible, planned redevelopment of our city is vital to its overall success while balancing the residents desires of more green space.

What is the most overlooked issue in your community and what would you do about it?

Answer: Improving the Cities image, building trust ,and clear communication is probably the most overlooked issue in the city. Clear concise communication would resolve many issues. Currently at every commission meeting residents ask why the staff and city officials don’t respond to inquiries from taxpayers. Silence after tragic incidents and the perception that the police have taking over city government is real. Building trust starts with being honest and responsive to our residents. Continuing

Concealment and conflict of interest by my opponent is unacceptable.

Voter participation in March municipal elections is historically very low. What should be done to improve voter turnout?

Cultivate quality, experienced candidates to run. Include city elections in utility bills to remind voters of upcoming election. End the corruption by the police union overtaking city government. Good

Governance over politics is a start by building trust among voters. Voters don’t feel their voice is heard.

What factors most distinguishes you from your opponent and why?

Honesty, transparency, proven leadership and my lifelong commitment to community/ public service. I am the only candidate in this race who has been elected by the voters, three terms as Mayor, vice mayor and city commissioner. My opponents concealment that she was apart of the coup by the police union that her husband initiated is appalling. Her first vote was to fire our long term city manager and insert her husbands partner at PD as City manager. Honesty is important and Mrs Kelley is misleading voters by telling them she lowered taxes even though she raised taxes by 4.5 percent. Adding 4.5 million dollars of new spending. Families are struggling to make ends meet while inflation, taxes and costly litigation has bogged down city finances. My lifelong commitment to public service is what is catapulting my campaign.

Why should voters elect you instead of your opponent?

Voters should elect honest, transparent leaders who have the experience and ability to lead!

My 40 years of business, government and non profit management makes me uniquely qualified to serve the residents of dist 4 at this time.

My opponent is focused on her providing benefits to her husband without disclosure or recusal as required by state law.

Voters recruited me to bring transparency back to the city after the police unions take over of city government. My opponent on her first night being appointed to the commission voted to fire our long time city manager and insert her husbands partner in the police union. She has voted to give her husband increased benefits without disclosure or recusal.
