He was a true salesman, an avid pool player, and was well known for his generosity in getting groceries for people in need using his bicycle, earning him the nickname “Angel on Wheels”. He is survived by his loving wife Olga, daughters Diana (John) Richter, Karen Baker and Christina (Gerald) Grobman; son Martin Baker; 3 granddaughters, Serena, Lisa and Lauren; and several other relatives. CAVINESS Caviness, Jasper E. 73 of Pompano Beach, FL died Tuesday, August 14, 2001 after a courageous five year battle with cancer. Formerly of Washington D.C. and Yancyville, N.C. After retiring from the the Bryant St. Pump House Dept. of Water in Washington D.C. He relocated to South Florida. He has resided in South Florida for over twenty years. He fulfilled his dream of owning and operating ALCO Reality Inc. A company he started over thirty-five years ago. (This became his most prized accomplishment.) He was a lover of sports, especially baseball. He also enjoyed fishing. He leaves to cherish in his memory a devoted daughter, Barbara J. Lucas, of Washington D.C. (Barbara has resided and cared for Jasper in his Florida home for the last three and half years.) Carol Ann Caviness-Aliu, and Gertuded Patricia Caviness both of Washington D.C.; two children preceded him in death an only son, Jasper Lee Caviness and a daughter Jacqueline Cordelia Caviness. One brother, Thomas Caviness of Germantown, Maryland. He also leaves to mourn Mary Caviness, his adopted daughters; Darlene Milburn, Ruscell Barnes and their families. Three granddaughters; Rachelle Lucas, Karen Shelton and Jacqueline Caviness all of Washington D.C. Two grandsons, Reginald Lucas and Anthony Green all of Washington D.C. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, Very special friend, Vernon A. Williams of Camp Springs, Maryland. Devoted friends, Hazel McKnight and Verlisha Ludden both of Pompano Beach, FL. Jasper’s outgoing personality and contagious smile allowed him to make friends readily. Wherever he went he displayed a lively spirit that profoundly touched the lives of many that traveled in his path. Rest in peace, my dearest Dad because a good life is what you had. CHANDLER Chandler, Carole of Coral Ridge, FL died unexpectedly August 16, 2001 at her home. A 27 year resident. Born in Tauton, MA, with a degree from Seton Hill College, PA and a masters from Boston University she became a public school teacher. During WWII became a flight attendant for American Airlines helping to bring home the returning soldiers. Active in her community, she was a Docent for the Broward County Library. Had been a real estate broker in Fort Lauderdale for 20 years, and also found time to teach GED/ESOL classes for the Broward County School Board. She was married for 35 years to Edward Chandler WWII Naval Aviator and Aviation Pioneer. Beautiful, dignified and vital to the end. She was a passionate, loving and devoted mother of 5 children and 8 grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. Survived by a son Edward; daughters Carol Agro, Lynne Novick, Lisa Chandler, Christine Dignam; a sister Joan Gerety; a brother Edward Morrissey; grandchildren Conrad, Marshall, David, Daniel, Catherine, Alexandra, Taylor, and Chandler and longtime companion Alex. Visiting will be on Monday from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM in Baird Case Jordan Fannin Chapel, 4343 N. Federal Hwy. Services will be in St. Johns the Baptist Church on Tues., 8/21 10 AM.

PROFFER Proffer, Joseph Daniel, died August 3, 2001 in Pompano Beach, after a long illness. He was born January 28, 1929 in Lutesville, MO. He was a resident of Margate, FL but had lived in Pompano since 1970. He worked for National Ins. Co. retiring in 1980. He served in the Korean War from 1947 to 1954 and received two Purple Hearts and a distinguished Medal of Honor Award and honorable discharge. He is survived by three brothers and one sister. Memorial Service to be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

RING Ring, Gary, 48, passed away on August 16, 2001. A long time Fort Lauderdale resident, Gary is survived by his loving son, Kenneth Ring and brothers Brian Ring and Ronald Ring. A private service is planned.
