All eyes were on Justin Fields at the Jimbo Fisher Football Camp at FSU on Wednesday.
Fields, the No. 2-ranked quarterback in the country for the Class of 2018, according to 247Sports.com’s composite rankings, decommitted from Penn State last week and his appearance at FSU was much anticipated.
The 6-foot-3, 221-pound dual-threat QB out of Kennesaw (Ga.) Harrison High did not disappoint, showing his well-rounded technique, accuracy and strong throwing arm.
“I felt like I did pretty good but, you know, you always want a few throws back and there’s always room to improve, but overall I felt I did pretty well,” Fields said. “I just came out here, did what I practice … I definitely had a fun time out here.”
Following the camp, he was invited back to Fisher’s office, where he spent some time talking with the Seminoles’ head coach.
“Just getting to know Coach Fisher more and just kind of developing that relationship with him was great,” said Fields, who is ranked as the No. 1 dual-threat QB in the country by 247Sports. “He kind of critiqued my throwing motion a little bit, and it helped so definitely grateful for that.”
He has plenty of schools chasing him in the recruiting wars, including FSU’s state rival Florida, and he has a busy schedule upcoming, but he was impressed with his visit to the Tallahassee campus.
“I like the school, I like everything about it, so it was definitely great to come down here,” Fields said.
Last season at Harrison, Fields completed 67 percent of his passes (186-of-279) for 2,770 yards and 23 touchdowns. He has almost 40 Football Bowl Subdivision scholarship offers.
