Mike Gorman is an American Sports Journalist currently serving in NBC Sports Boston for the Boston Celtics as a play-by-play commentator. He also served for NBC during the 2016 basketball games in the Summer Olympics along with Fran Fraschilla as a play-by-play. Before NBC Sports, Mike served for ESPN’s “Big Monday” Big East Game of the week in the 1980s as a primary announcer.

He was inducted as part of the 2021 class into the media wing of the Basketball Hall of Fame along with his favorite player and also the winner of the 2021 Curt Gowdy Award Paul Pierce.

Before NBC Sports, Mike served for ESPN’s “Big Monday” Big East Game of the week in the 1980s as a primary announcer. He also appeared on the NCAA basketball tournament at the CBS station, on NBC in the the1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics tennis with Bud Collins, and the 2016 Men’s basketball Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

His journalism career life started in New Bedford at WNBH and WPRO as a play-by-play commentator for Providence college and the voice of the University of Rhode Island. He also served as a sports director at WPRI.

Additionally, apart from his journalism career, Mike served in the United States Navy as an aviator between 1970 and 1975. In 2004, He was inducted into the Hall of Fame for New England Basketball and also won a five-time Emmy Award winner.
