The Miami Dolphins are signing former Minnesota Vikings safety Myles Dorn, according to a league source.
The move Wednesday evening comes after an earlier announcement that the team waived two players, punter Michael Turk and safety Bennett Williams. Williams was waived with an injury settlement. Both were undrafted rookies participating in Dolphins training camp.
Dorn is a third-year pro after going undrafted out of North Carolina in 2021. He has appeared in 14 games over the past two seasons with the Vikings, playing exclusively on special teams and making five career tackles.
Williams was signed following the draft out of Oregon, marking the third consecutive offseason Miami picked up a rookie safety from the Ducks. The Dolphins used a 2021 second-round pick to select Jevon Holland and then had Verone McKinley on the roster last season after he went undrafted out of Oregon.
Turk is the nephew of former Dolphins punter Matt Turk, who spent four (2000-01, 2003-04) of his 16 NFL seasons in Miami and was a three-time Pro Bowler in Washington.
His departure apparently settles the punter competition this camp between him and free-agent signing Jake Bailey.
