A new generation used to dipping into fondue pots with their folks are celebrating their own special events at The Melting Pot of Boca Raton.
That’s cause for celebration for Bill Schmearer, who owns the dinner restaurant with Jere Cook, celebrating its 25th year in business at 5455 N. Federal Highway.
“We’re kind of going through a resurgence,” said Schmearer. “The kids are now young adults, so in our 25 years we’ve gone through a cycle and we’re now entertaining and interacting with millennials.”
The Melting Pot is offering a four-course anniversary fondue special for $40.40 through Jan. 1. That number has significance: “It’s the 40th anniversary of Melting Pot Inc. in Maitland, Fla. They closed the restaurant after 30 years,” he said.
“We have an extensive wine list and a full bar with craft beers and specialty cocktails,” Cook said.
Three kinds of bread – rosemary, honey wheat and French – were among the charcuterie served for dipping that also included veggies, fruit, chicken, barbecued pork, marinated duck, ahi tuna and shellfish during a recent special event.
If diners can’t make the anniversary special date, no problem, Schmearer said.
“We add a unique course three times a year and we will always have a four-course special around that price range,” he said.
Their celebration packages start at $12 not including dinner with a Teddy bear, balloon bouquets and roses. The ultimate romance package in a curtained booth with a keepsake frame, any four-course dinner for two and bottle of premium wine or champagne goes for $139 to $159.
The restaurant seats 110 and they renovated in time for the anniversary.
“The bar came from one piece from oak and we kept the bare edge and finished it,” Schmearer said. There’s a new floor and restrooms, they added stone accent walls and there’s new art work and lighting.
“We redid the booths and the configurations to make them more private,” he said.
As for the chocolate-covered strawberries, club members get alerts for them, Schmearer said. “But mention it when you make the reservations,” he suggested.
There are 17 Melting Pot locations in Florida and many in 35 other states. There is one each in Canada and Mexico, according to their website.
