Congratulations, America. A leading presidential candidate is found by various competent judges to be an insurrectionist and a sexual offender.
A federal appeals court judge from Alabama found that the attempt by former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows to “witness” the vote count in Georgia was a thinly veiled attempt to intimidate the counters. It’s a very sad situation when 40% of the country has branded as enemies of the cult doctors, teachers, scientists, professors, police, the FBI, election workers, judges, civil servants, the news media and Democrats.
It does not take a rocket scientist to see where Trump wants to take this country. Recall when communists took over Russia in 1917, or when Hitler took over Germany in 1933, when communists took over Cambodia in the late 1960s, or when North Vietnam took over South Vietnam in 1975. All have the same enemies list the cult has.
Kill the truth. Invent your own truth. It’s what Trump has done his whole life.

Trump’s not the problem
As you struggle mightily to push your decrepit old candidate across the finish line in 2024, you again focus on the evils of Donald Trump.
Do you plan a special Sun Sentinel issue devoted to the evils of Trump?
More importantly, why not let voters decide if Trump is worthy of a second term? Why do you advocate trying to remove him from the ballot in different states if you are the ones clamoring for free and fair elections?
Why are you willing to disenfranchise millions of Americans of their right to vote because they think differently? Are you afraid of their right to disagree with you and your progressive platform? Biden’s poll numbers are tanking despite all the propaganda about how great he’s doing. The public is simply not buying it and is looking for an alternative.
Enough of the twaddle about how voting Democratic is voting to save democracy.
A leaky southern border, two wars and runaway inflation is what most Americans are worried about — not Trump.

Blind to the dangers
There’s an old proverb that says: “There are none so blind as those who will not see.”
I believe this applies to many, if not all, of Donald Trump’s supporters, and that frightens me. If — and it’s a big if — this person is somehow able to regain the White House in 2024, he will destroy this country. That is my fear.
And if one should listen and pay attention to what he says, his intentions are clear.
While we’re on the subject, I have one last question: Does anyone seriously believe that Trump will ever be a dictator only for “one day”?

A working Congress? Ya think?
A recent Sun Sentinel Opinion page offered both laughs and groans. The letter writer who called for the “BOBS” plan (Bipartisanship Over Bologna Sandwiches) provided a good laugh and the groan (or, more aptly named, disgust) was from the revelation that the Pentagon has failed to pass any audit, ever.
If the Pentagon were a business, it would be out of business in no time. Why does this continue? Could it be it’s because Congress is a weak, do-nothing branch of government intent on investigating its colleagues, rather than actually doing the business of government? Even Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the epitome of hypocrisy, has retreated into his office.
Why can’t we have a functioning Congress and a Supreme Court that takes the people’s opinions into consideration instead of repealing or making laws that reflect the judges’ religion or philosophy? These black robed nincompoops are a farce.
