Latest Boys Basketball Results (Jan. 16)

Friday night’s boys basketball matchup between Pine Crest and University School is a game Chandler Pollock’s grandchildren will hear about 50 years from now.

With two ticks remaining on the clock, Pollock drove to the basket, hit the game-winning shot, and gave the Panthers a 65-63 win over the Suns.

Up to that point, Pine Crest had never led in the game, until Pollack’s timely lay up. The freshman forward finished the game with nine points.

Down by 10 points after the first quarter, and trailing by seven at halftime, the Panthers clawed back in the third quarter to cut the lead to one point. The Suns led by as much as six points in the fourth quarter, but with the help of Pollock and Antonio Brankovic, Pine Crest never felt the game was out of reach.

Brankovic had an all-around impactful game. The senior center had a team-high 19 points, a career-high eight assists, 16 rebounds and also chipped in with three key blocks.

Chris Alexander and Nick Nolting also reach double digits for the Panthers, with 14 and 10 points repsectively.
