13. N. Carolina 38

Maryland 7

Chris Keldorf has finally found a home.

Keldorf, who attended two junior colleges before transferring to North Carolina, passed for 340 yards – second most in school history – and connected with L.C. Stevens for three first-half touchdowns to lead the No. 13 Tar Heels to a 38-7 win over Maryland on Saturday night.

“I’m speechless. It hasn’t sunk in yet,” Keldorf said. “Maybe after the season I’ll look back at all those schools and all those long hours of studying football and practicing, then I’ll smile about it. Right now, I’m a little bit busy.”

Keldorf, playing in his sixth game with the Tar Heels, was 17-of-22 for 243 yards in a near-perfect opening half as he picked apart the nation’s 32nd-ranked pass defense. Maryland had given up only three passing TDs in its first five games of the season.

The Tar Heels outgained Maryland 551-179 and held the ball for 411/2 of the game’s 60 minutes.

Clemson 13, Duke 6: Quarterback Nealon Greene passed for a career-high 231 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown to wide receiver Tony Horne, to lead the Tigers to a 13-6 victory over the winless Blue Devils.

Duke (0-6, 0-3) held Clemson (3-3, 2-2) to 138 yards on the ground, most coming from tailback Raymond Priester.
