Notably, Women in Media has also awarded her an Award of Excellence in Broadcast Journalism.
She has significantly contributed to the team’s successes, which have included an Emmy, an Edward R. Murrow, a Peabody, and an Emmy for their coverage of Hurricane Katrina. Her career as a journalist has included covering big national news stories and obtaining exclusive interviews with notable newsmakers and national figures. She also covered the Kamiyah Mobley story in-depth.
She has a strong desire to preserve historical figures’ legacies and tell the tales of marginalized populations. She was instrumental in the development of the special program “Vivid Hues: Stories of Black History” in 2021, which included local artists and trailblazers and creatively and enlighteningly highlighted lesser-known stories.
