Phang joined WFOR-TV in 2005 as a legal consultant to discuss Michael Jackson’s trial. She was told to resign by Katherine Fernandez Rundle, the state attorney’s chief assistant because Rundle “does not want her assistants providing public legal analysis or commentary regarding criminal trials.”
Rather, she joined a private law firm after she left the state attorney’s office while continuing to work as an unpaid legal consultant. She also covered Robert Blake’s trial and the Terri Schiavo case for WFOR. She went on to work as a legal analyst for Fox News and was a frequent guest on Greta Van Susteren’s show.
In 2017, she joined NBCUniversal as a legal analyst. In 2021, she appeared on CNBC’s Money Court with Kevin O’Leary and Ada Pozo, where they adjudicated financial disputes. In April 2022, she debuted her own show, The Katie Phang Show, on MSNBC and Peacock, which airs on weekends on MSNBC and Thursdays to Fridays on Peacock.
