Jewish organizations in South Florida are already gearing up for their summer camp programs.

The organizations have already begun registration for its camps, and are also in the process of hiring staff for the summer programs.

Among the institutions providing camp programs this summer include the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center in Boca Raton, which will offer its Marleen Forkas Camps from June 12- Aug. 5 for children from K-8.

Jason Tomaszewski, director of Levis JCC’s Camp & Family Programs, said, “I’m very excited to join the Levis JCC family and continue to provide a safe and fun camp experience to families in the South Florida community.”

“We thrive on providing our campers with engaging activities, new experiences, a sense of belonging and memories that will last a lifetime,” Tomaszewski continued. “It’s only February and our registration is strong, and increasing pretty much daily. We are thrilled to see that registrants are both returning campers, as well as new campers, and we are gearing up for another epic summer.”

The Levis JCC is bringing back teen travel and field trips for this summer, while still following CDC and local health official guidelines for safety.

The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches is providing its Camp Shalom at its Boynton Beach and Palm Beach Gardens locations for children ages 2 through eighth grade. Options include traditional, sports and camps for children with special needs (up to age 22).

Camp Shalom is introducing this summer JNightZ, a Monday through Friday overnight camp experience for children entering 2nd-8th grade. JNightZ campers will participate in Camp Shalom at the Mandel JCC, Palm Beach Gardens during the day and then will be bused to and from FAU Jupiter Campus for extended camp activities.

Samantha Klein, managing director at the Mandel JCC, Palm Beach Gardens, said, “I’m most excited about our brand-new JNightZ program because nothing of its kind exists in the north Palm Beach area.”

“This new option helps us reach more of the community and allows us to grow with our customer,” Klein continued. “Your child may be ready for sleep-away camp and now so are we.”

Spaces for Camp Kadima at the David Posnack JCC in Davie are filling up fast, according to Perla Sananes, Camp Kadima director / Maccabi Tzair director at the J.

“We are very excited for Camp Kadima 2022,” Sananes said. “This year, we are introducing two new camps: Kindergarten Boot Camp, designed to give the Pre-K graduates the necessary academic tools to succeed in kindergarten, combined with the regular summer-camp activities; and Sports Academy, Jr., designed for our junior athletes in Kindergarten and first grade to learn the fundamentals of sports.”

Sananes feels socializing at the camps is fundamental for children of all ages.

“It fosters the children’s growth and emotional development,” she said. “We are proud to provide attractive spaces for kids to have fun and socialize.”

The JCC is hiring counselors, lifeguards and specialists for the camp.

The Michael-Ann Russell JCC in North Miami Beach will offer its Camp Sol Taplin from June 13-Aug. 12. The JCC will offer more than 25 camps for children ages 2–15.

Marleny Rosemberg, the MARJCC’s summer camp director, said, “We have been one of the more successful camps during COVID.”

“We were open during the COVID year in 2020, and last year we grew our numbers but we were still safe as we had small groups,” Rosemberg said. “Our goal this year is to keep a safe environment for everybody.”

The Galbut Family Miami Beach JCC hosts its Camp Klurman from June 13-Aug. 19.

Jenny Mermelszteyn, the Miami Beach JCC’s director of camping, said, “For us at the JCC, the well-being and health of our community is the most important, especially in these times that we are living.”

“I believe that for the kids, the best that can happened to them is be around friends, share experiences and learn how to interact between each other,” Mermelszteyn continued. “Our theme for this summer is ‘Camp Friends are Forever Friends,’ and this is what it is all about: connections and friendships that will last in their memories.”

Jewish Adoption and Family Care Options is hiring staff for the 2022 summer camp at its Children’s Ability Center in Sunrise, a center serving children ages birth through 22 with any developmental disabilities. The direct care staff will provide care for the needs of the children in the Center during the GAP Summer Camp program. The camp is open to children ages 3 through 22 with a developmental disability across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

David Rudolph, JAFCO’s director of human resources, said, “Camp Kehilla is entering its seventh year and we are so excited to offer a one-of-a-kind camp experience to children with developmental disabilities at JAFCO’s Children’s Ability Center in Sunrise.
