- Jayne was born in 1972 in Northumberland and grew up in North East England.
- She always considers it a privilege that she is the daughter of famed British broadcaster Kathy Secker.
- In December 2015, when Kathy was aged 70, she passed away. The funeral services were held at the West Road Crematorium, Newcastle.
- Jayne’s mom Kathy married childhood friend Wally Secker in the 1960s and later divorced him in the 1990s. Jayne has a brother named David Secker.
- Jayne took the legacy of her mother and carried it forward with the charity at Grace House North East, a respite centre that was founded in Sunderland by Kathy.
- A married mother of two, Jayne has two sons; Jake and Seb. Her husband’s name is Dom.

- Jayne had a keen interest in writing, therefore; she did her degree course in film and media at Stirling University.
- During the same phase, she edited student papers and completed an internship with BBC Radio Newcastle. After completing her graduation, BBC assigned her as a paid trainee in 1996.

- Jayne’s determination has led her to do some intense reporting. She has ventured out to cover the Middle East, the Israeli / Hizbollah conflict, the Israeli election and the death of the Hamas’ spiritual leader, Sheik Ahmed Yassin.
- Besides, she had reported on the Gaza & Iraq wars and even delivered ground reports from Baghdad. In one of her interviews, she recounted one of her best moments was when she reported from the deck of an American ship, watching Tomahawk missiles taking shoot off from a meagre distance.
- Adding to Jayne’s achievements, the Sky News team was a winner of the prestigious RTS and Bafta Awards for covering the Soham murders.
- She was also one of the finalists for the Royal Television Society’s Young Journalist of the Year Award.
