Is Cobalion a good pokemon? The steel/fighting type legendary Pokemon has been one of the best threats in the Sun and Moon UU (Under Used) tier. Here is everything you need to know about Cobalion and if it is actually worth putting on your team.

Is Cobalion a Good Pokemon?

Cobalion is not a Pokemon you would find on a top level OU (overused) or Uber tier team in the Pokemon Sun and Moon franchise, due to its Swords of Justice peers Terrakion, Virizion, and Keldeo all being much more viable in upper tier play. However, Cobalion can be a staple on any UU tier team and has the versatility and move pool be a terror to deal with.

Cobalion has access to Stealth Rock, which can force opponents to switch out their Pokemon because of the threat of Swords Dance. This allows Cobalion to set up Stealth Rocks and be a hazard entry for a lot of teams. Rock Polish is another move that gives Cobalion the upper hand in the meta. With a +2 speed boost Cobalion can out speed most of the best Pokemon in the UU Tier.

When Using Cobalion, be mindful that Cobalion is not great at sweeping through teams in the early game. Cobalion is more battle tested for the endgame, rallying for teammates and lowering opponents hp due to Stealth Rocks, which can counter any potential sweeps. The best Pokemon to add to a team with Cobalion are Tanks who can manage some of the damage that it cannot take. Pokemon that use Toxic Spikes can help Cobalion handle teams that are superior defensively.
