A former Ohio dentist was arrested near Hallandale and charged on Friday with practicing without a license, Broward Sheriff’s deputies said.
Richard Sokol, 54, of Fort Lauderdale, agreed to make a house call to repair a set of false teeth, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Leljedal. When he arrived at 11:15 a.m., Leljedal said, an undercover agent gave the man, who identified himself as Dr. Richards, broken dentures. As he repaired them, the man told the detective he was a licensed dentist and that a license is required to perform the repair job.
The detective placed Sokol under arrest for practicing dentistry without a Florida license, a third-degree felony.
Leljedal said Sokol practiced dentistry in Ohio but gave up his license last year.
