Tim "Nemesis" Lipovšek joined Fnatic on Thursday as its new mid laner, pending Riot Games approval.
The 19-year-old Slovenian player made his name on the Spanish League of Legends Masters team MAD Lions E.C., where he and his team regularly dominated competition.
He will have huge shoes to fill on Fnatic after the departure of star mid laner Rasmus "Caps" Winther Nov. 25. Caps is widely regarded as the best mid laner in the West, and had an outsize role in Fnatic's second place finish at the 2018 League of Legends World Championship.
In a statement accompanying the team's acquisition of Nemesis, Fnatic's League of Legends team director Joey "YoungBuck" Steltenpool expressed his hopes for the young mid laner.
"Building up talent may take time and always comes with risk," he said. "But I believe Fnatic provides their players the perfect platform to become stars: we have the most tools and the friendliest, hardest-working teammates that Europe has to offer. We look forward to showing exactly that once again in the upcoming season!”
Fnatic is one of 10 teams participating in the newly franchised League of Legends European Championship, which is set to begin its next season in January.
