PALM CITY (CBS12) — A Palm Beach County deputy who was part of the motorcade escorting former president Donald Trump from his court hearing on Monday was injured in a crash, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed.

Few details about the crash are available at this time, including how the incident occurred. The wreck happened about 3:30 p.m. on southbound Interstate 95, between the High Meadow Avenue and Martin Highway intersection, near Palm City.

The motorcycle was seen in the grass well off the roadway.

The deputy, who was riding a motorcycle during the Trump motorcade as he returned from a federal court hearing in Fort Pierce, was taken to the hospital, a PBSO spokesperson reported. The spokesperson did not have information on the deputy’s condition but believed the deputy was conscious when taken to the hospital.

The spokesperson for the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said the injured deputy is a woman. MCSO believes she was taken from the crash site to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

Traffic camera footage showed major delays on I-95 near the crash. The Florida Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation.
