Sidearms recently in Destiny 2 have received some attention in recent months have been a far more interesting option as of Beyond Light. Witb that in mind, let’s take a look at the best Destiny 2 sidearms in 2022 for PvE, PvP & Gambit right now
Best Destiny 2 Sidearms 2022
Best for PvE & Gambit
- Brass Attacks (Energy, Void) – Season of the Chosen season pass reward.
- Drang (Energy, Solar) – Complete the quest, My Captain on Nessus.
- Devil’s Ruin (Energy, Solar, Exotic) – Exotic Cipher reward from Cryptarch.
- Forerunner (Kinetic, Exotic) – Obtained via Magnum Opus quest during 30th Anniersary event.
- High Albedo (Kinetic) – European weapon quest from Variks.
- Peacebond (Kinetic, Stasis) – Possible drop from completing Iron Banner matches and turning in Tokens.
- Seventh Seraph SI-2 (Energy, Void) – Random world drop.
- Traveler’s Chosen (Kinetic, Exotic) – Purchased from exotic kiosk.
There are quite a few legendary sidearms you can choose from but among the most popular is Peacebond. It’s a very easy-to-use gun that rolls with very choice perks and is also a rare Stasis weapon that can pair very nicely with Stasis builds.
Devil’s Ruin is probably the best and most versatile Sidearm in Destiny 2 in PvE, but the only problem is you do have to burn an exotic slot on it. If you want a gun that can do it all though: short-range, long-range, innate unstoppable rounds, decent boss dps, decent add clear, Devil’s Ruin is a pretty solid choice. It’s essentially the jack of all trades, master of none weapon in Destiny 2 which kind of fits for a sidearm.
High Albedo is just an all-around solid sidearm in the Adaptive Frame archetype which means it fires a three-round burst. It can roll full-auto and wellspring which is a great combo for both PvE and PvP. Seventh Seraph SI-2, on the other hand, also has great perk combos but is in a lightweight frame. More importantly, though, it works within Warmind Cell builds.
Finally, Traveler’s Chosen is the other exotic worth looking at. While on its own its unique perk which helps you build up your abilities is useful, you might want to give it extra consideration if you have a build that is revolving around one or more of your abilities.
Best Sidearms for PvP & Crucible
- Devil’s Ruin (Energy, Solar, Exotic) – Exotic Cipher reward from Cryptarch.
- Drang (Energy, Solar) – Complete the quest, My Captain on Nessus.
- High Albedo (Kinetic) – European weapon quest from Variks.
- Peacebond (Kinetic, Stasis) – Possible drop from completing Iron Banner matches and turning in Tokens.
- Rat King (Kinetic, Exotic) – Obtained via the exotic kiosk.
- The Fool’s Remedy (Energy, Solar) – Possible reward from Iron Banner rank-ups.
- The Last Dance (Energy, Arc) – Random world drop.
PvP sidearms are mostly the same as above. Rat King is a bit less of a meme in PvP (at least stuff like quickplay) and can be pretty lethal up close and the invisibility perk is helpful to have.
However, the newly added Forerunner is your best bet if you really want to commit to the Sidearm playstyle. It’s the hardest hitting Sidearm in the game (it uses Special ammo as a result) and feels very similarly to the Magnum in Halo, ie: it hits hard, rewards headshots, and has very long range.
Otherwise, the legendary items are mostly the same. Consider The Last Dance as well though as it rolls with really helpful PvP perks such as Rangefinder, Outlaw, Kill Clip, and Moving Target while also falling into that really nice feeling Adaptive Frame archetype.
If you like full-auto sidearms, the Iron Banner sidearm, The Fool’s Remedy is a good one to grind for while it’s active.
