Brian Mahorney Obituary, Death Cause – At 9:59 o’clock on the evening of Tuesday, August 15, 2023, Brian Alexander “Runt” Mahorney, 44, a resident of Montpelier, passed away at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. On Wednesday, April 25, 1979, he entered the world in the city of Hartford. Blackford County was the location of Brian and Christina (Townsend) Mahorney’s wedding on Thursday, April 4, 2019. In 1998, he received his diploma from Blackford High School in the city of Hartford. Brian went to the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene while he was living in Montpelier. He has previous experience working in Portland for both MSSU and FCC.
Brian volunteered his time to serve as a firefighter in the communities of Dunkirk, Pennville, and Montpelier. He had previously served on the Jamboree’s planning committee. Brian enjoyed watching both football and Nascar, and the Colts and the Vikings were two of his favorite teams to watch in those respective sports. Above all else, the time he got to spend with his cherished grandchildren was the thing he valued the most. His wife Christina (Townsend) Mahorney of Montpelier, his daughters Victoria Bartley-Mahorney, Lillian Mahorney, and Lacy Mahorney of Montpelier, his stepdaughters Sarah Swanson of Austin, Texas, Elizabeth Swanson of Montpelier,

and Kala Epps of Bluffton, his stepsons Gene Epps Jr. of Bluffton and Justin Epps of Tampa, Florida, as well as his grandchildren Vincent Swanson and Isabel Swan He was predeceased by his mother Janet S. Mahorney, father G. Alex Mahorney Jr., paternal grandparents Helen and George A. Mahorney Sr., Keith and J. Lorene Downhour, father-in-law Dale Russell Townsend Sr., and numerous aunts and uncles. A Memorial Service or Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of the deceased are welcome and may be sent to the Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, located at 109 West Windsor Street in Montpelier.
