A 10-year-old boy who police say accidentally hanged himself in his Davie home early this week died of his injuries at Broward General Medical Center Wednesday evening.

The Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday determined that Frank James Miller died of cerebral anoxia due to hanging and listed the manner of death as undetermined.

Davie police do not think the boy tried to commit suicide, rather that he accidentally hanged himself Monday while playing alone in a closet, swinging by his neck on a garment that was tied by its sleeves to a clothes pole.

The state Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services removed the couple’s two other children, ages 11 and 12, from the home the day of the hanging and is conducting its own neglect investigation, police said.
