First of all, I would like to thank U.S. District Judge Mark Walker in Tallahassee for voiding the onerous 2021 election law. Bravo!
I would also like to thank whoever was in charge of planting those beautiful wildflower areas along Florida’s Turnpike going north between Glades Road and Atlantic Avenue near Delray Beach. It was an unexpected surprise and a delight to see. It’s a simple beauty added for all Floridians and visitors to the state, and I’m sure all the birds and bees will be happy as well.

Support for Bahia Mar
We’ve been listening for years to the same local activists trying to thwart any redevelopment of Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale. On one hand, they claim they love the property as it is. On the other, it’s obvious none of them have been to the property, because although Bahia Mar is iconic, it’s old and tired and in desperate need of redevelopment.
More importantly, there are currently no boardwalks, parks or open space for the public to come and enjoy the beautiful vistas the property has to offer. So what are these activists actually talking about? Their outcry is obviously self-serving and not in the best interest of the rest of Fort Lauderdale.
I feel that the city commission deserves credit for their vision and guts to drown out the white noise and focus on the facts and data and vote with their hearts, not their wallets. Clearly the plan for Bahia Mar is vastly better for all of Fort Lauderdale. Kudos to our city commissioners.

Are book burnings next?
Increasingly across this country, banning books from schools and libraries is spreading. The next step could be burning them, as illustrated in the movie Fahrenheit 451.
Those things really happened under the Nazis. Doesn’t the First Amendment apply as in freedom to publish as well as to speak?

One person, one GOP vote
So Regal Ron thinks it’s wrong to draw a congressional district that creates a greater chance of a Black candidate being elected. Just not right, folks. But, no siree Bob, it’s not wrong to gerrymander the heck out of our state to give his Republican Party more districts with the greater chances of winning. One vote for each person who’s a good Republican.
It must be nice to be a king in what was once a democracy.

‘You never disappoint’
Re: Lawmakers must tackle insurance crisis now, Editorial
To my amazement, I find myself in agreement with your editorial about Florida’s property insurance problem. However, you never disappoint and segued right into the parental rights bill, to wit: “Florida now has banned what the governor calls race and gender ‘indoctrination’ that doesn’t exist.”
If it doesn’t exist, why are your panties all in a twist? I suppose for the same reason you don’t like a ban on the teaching of critical race theory, that teaching it doesn’t exist. Race, gender, sex and grouping kids into tribes do not belong in school.
No wonder Johnny can’t read.
