Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fish Wand is just one of the several types of wands available for players to earn. Unlike other previous wands, the Fish Wand cannot be crafted on its own. It needs to be earned through participation in the Fishing Tourney.
Summer in New Horizons brings about several seasonal events. One of these is the ever-popular Fishing Tourney run by CJ the beaver. Every so often, CJ will visit your island, put up a tent, and start up a competition that is open to all residents. Unsurprisingly, performing well in the Fishing Tourney can give players a lot more than just bragging rights.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fish Wand: How to Get
The Fish Wand can be earned as a prize for participating and doing well in the Fishing Tourney. Participating in the tourney will earn you points which can be redeemed for rewards from CJ. Each item is 10 points.
Your first entry to the tournament is free. Each additional entry, however, will cost 500 bells. You can enter as many times as you wish between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
You will be scored on the amount of fish you can catch in the next three minutes. Each fish counts as one point with two bonus points awarded if you catch more than three. Fish caught during this time can be collected or sold to CJ at the end.
Once bought, the Fish Wand is worth 1500 bells. It has no customization options.
