Get ready to immerse yourself in Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss. A new trailer for the upcoming HBO Max documentary has just dropped, and in watching it, audiences are immediately taken into how Juice WRLD, real name Jarad A. Higgins, became one of the biggest rap artists in America and what the impacts of fame and touring had on the former talented rapper.
The Chicago native tragically passed away on December 8, 2019. The documentary contains never-before-seen footage of behind-the-scenes clips of him freestyling with friends, collaborating with music producers, and performing for audiences worldwide. The film also includes new music, and interviews with people who were close to him, including his girlfriend Ally Lotti.
“When you’re a fan of this s**t, you look at it from a certain perspective. But when you in it, you see it for what it really is. I’m still happy I could change the world, but it’s not what it looked like,” the late rapper says in the trailer.

The trailer also indicates that the documentary will offer a heavy focus on the artist's struggles to overcome his drug addiction, especially in 2018 when he rose to fame thanks to his song "Lucid Dreams," which skyrocketed as the No. 1 song on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in 2018, and the U.S. charts at No. 2.
Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss, which is part of HBO's Music Box series of documentaries that also includes Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage, Jagged, and Listening to Kenny G among others, is directed by Tommy Oliver (HBO’s 40 Years a Prisoner) and executive produced by The Ringer’s Bill Simmons (HBO’s Andre The Giant, Showbiz Kids). The documentary will premiere on Thursday, December 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max. Check out the new trailer below:
