Most major tech companies host launch events when they release new products. Samsung is no exception. While the company has smaller events, the main event with the big ticket launches is Unpacked.
With Samsung's Unpacked event for August is right around the corner. Here's everything you need to know about the event, including what products to expect.
When Is Samsung Unpacked?
Wait a minute–Samsung's already had it's Unpacked event, right? Well, sort of. Samsung held an Unpacked event back in April where it announced the Galaxy Book. That event is not to be confused with Galaxy Unpacked back in January, where the company announced this year's Galaxy S21 line-up. Confusing, right?
Samsung's next Unpacked event is fast approaching. The company itself hasn't confirmed yet a date, only that the event will be held in the summer. But online leakers, and apparently even a report from a Samsung executive, tells us to expect the event on August 11.
Leaker Evan Blass tweeted that the event would be held on August 11. Blass holds a 78.6% accuracy rating, so shouldn't be ignored. What's more, a report from the Korean site Digital Daily includes an alleged statement from a Samsung official confirming the August 11 date.
While the date still hasn't been publicly confirmed by Samsung, and probably won't be until a week or two before the event, we can take August 11 as a pretty safe bet.
What to Expect at Samsung Unpacked
Of course, Samsung hasn't confirmed what's being announced at Unpacked, that would render the event pointless. Although the company did tease an upcoming smartwatch at its event during MWC 2021.
Multiple leakers have all rumored the same products will be released at Unpacked in August, let's take a look.
Samsung Galaxy Fold 3
For a while now, we've been told to expect the Fold 3 at Samsung's next Unpacked event. The new foldable smartphone will follow Samsung's previous Galaxy Z Fold 2 device in the foldable line-up.
We expect the Fold 3 to be fairly similar to its predecessor. The new device will be 5G capable, come with a 4500mAh battery, and offer up to 12GB of RAM.

However, the new device is also set to gain waterproofing, a larger display, tougher housing, and a different rear camera layout. We also expect the device to come with the new Snapdragon 888+ processor announced at MWC.
Samsung Galaxy Flip 3
Just like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Flip 3 will also be a follow-up device in the Flip line-up. The Galaxy Z Flip is another of Samsung's foldable smartphones, just in the traditional clamshell form factor.
We're expecting a similar battery life, 5G capabilities, and screen size as the device's predecessor.

But, we're expecting some more significant changes to the Flip 3. The device is set to feature a redesigned back with a new camera layout and larger mini display. We're also expecting the new Snapdragon 888+ processor, and an upgraded 120Hz display.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4
Samsung's Galaxy Watch 4 is another follow-up device to the company's Galaxy Watch series. We can be pretty confident this device is coming in August, as Samsung teased it at MWC 2021.
We're expecting many similar features on the Galaxy Watch 4. There should be Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and LTE options. We're also expecting the same display size.
— Evan Blass (@evleaks) July 10, 2021
What we can expect on the Watch 4 are some new health features. The smartwatch looks set to receive blood oxygen monitoring and advanced sleep tracking, along with improved heart rate monitoring and body composition analysis. By far the biggest change on the Watch 4 will be the new One UI Watch software, developed in partnership with Google.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 or Pro
Following the trend, Samsung is set to update its Galaxy Buds line-up with a new model. The follow-up product will either be dubbed the Galaxy Buds 2 or Galaxy Buds Pro 2.
— Evan Blass (@evleaks) July 10, 2021
We're not expecting too many new features on the new Galaxy Buds. If Samsung goes down the Pro route, we could see active noise cancellation improvements. Otherwise, we should expect new colors and also a slightly lower price. Who knows, Samsung may even release both versions.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
Last but not least is the fan edition Galaxy S21 smartphone. Samsung usually releases a fan edition of its Galaxy flagship for the year, and 2021 will be no different.
— Evan Blass (@evleaks) July 10, 2021
Samsung's fan edition smartphones are usually a cheaper version of the current flagship. Think the existing Galaxy S21 with a slightly less advanced display and processor, limited RAM options, different colors, and a different camera setup.
Note: While we expect all of these new Samsung devices to be announced at Unpacked in August, it remains unclear whether shipping dates or stock levels will be affected by the current chip shortage.
How to Watch Samsung Unpacked
If you're looking to tune into Samsung's upcoming event, there are plenty of options to do so. As with all events, Samsung will be streaming the event live on its own events page, and it's YouTube channel as well. The company hasn't set up the stream yet, so check back closer to the time.
In case you can't watch the event live, Samsung always uploads the entire event to its page and YouTube channel once the stream is over. You'll be able to catch up on it then.
Of course, if you'd prefer to read about Samsung's new products from Unpacked 2021, we'll be covering all the announcements here at MUO. We'll be providing coverage on all the latest product announcements both on the site and our YouTube channel.
How Many Samsung Events Are There This Year?
An Unpacked event in August will mark Samsung's fourth event of 2021. That's quite a few events from one company in the same year. Granted, not much happened at MWC, but Samsung has still been extremely active this year.
But, if any of the rumored new products aren't announced at the Unpacked in August, we may even see another Samsung event later in the year.
