Video surfaced Saturday on social media of boxer Gervonta Davis, a Baltimore native, in a physical altercation with a woman at a celebrity basketball game in Miami.
In the 14-second video, Davis, 25, is seen with his hand close to the woman’s neck, forcibly removing her from her seat before leaving the court with her and two other men.
As of Monday, no charges had been filed against Davis, but Coral Gables Florida Police were investigating the incident, a spokesman said.
In February 2019, a Fairfax County, Virginia, magistrate issued Davis an arrest warrant for a misdemeanor assault charge in connection to an alleged altercation on Feb. 17 at a Virginia mall. Davis was scheduled to appear in court in May 2019, but he reached a settlement and the charges were dropped.
Davis’ adviser, Lorin Chvotkin, said he had no comment over the weekend. A spokesman for Showtime, the network that has broadcast Davis’ championship fights, also declined comment Monday.
Davis posted on Instagram, “I never once hit her. yea I was aggressive and told her come on … that’s the mother of my child I would never hurt her…”
Davis, who now lives and trains in the Atlanta area, won the World Boxing Association lightweight title with a 12th-round knockout of Yuriorkis Gamboa on Dec. 29 in Atlanta.
Davis has a 23-0 career record with 22 knockouts.
