If Fort Lauderdale residents were looking for a bright side in this historically waterlogged week, it’s that it ends with the sunny enthusiasm of Tortuga Music Festival.

Gates opened on schedule at noon Friday at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park — with normal procedures in place and the performance schedule intact.

The three-day country music festival celebrates its 10th anniversary with performances by dozens of top artists led by headliners Kenny Chesney, Shania Twain and Eric Church.

The sold-out festival typically draws more than 25,000 people per day from all over the country. On Tortuga’s Facebook and Instagram pages, many fans reported struggles in finding alternate travel arrangements as Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport remained closed on Thursday.
