A letter writer says he would like to see religious broadcaster Pat Robertson adhere to the adage: “Hands that help do more than lips that pray.”
As founder of The Christian Broadcasting Network and Operation Blessing, a humanitarian organization, Pat Robertson does both. CBN produces television programming that shares the gospel message of Jesus Christ, which is filled with hope and love, with millions worldwide. Further, Pat Robertson is actively involved in providing humanitarian assistance through Operation Blessing, which has provided $440 million in relief aid to help nearly 114 million people worldwide since its inception in 1978.
Consider these humanitarian projects of the last five months alone. A nationwide convoy of tractor-trailer trucks delivered more than 4 million pounds of food to 18 cities nationwide – enough food for more than 2.6 million meals. At the same time, Operation Blessing launched a series of medical missions to Zaire and Romania and unveiled plans to convert an L-1011 aircraft into a “flying hospital” which will visit areas of the world where medical care is non-existent.
Pat Robertson certainly believes in the power of prayer, but also believes that one must live out his faith through actions in service to others.
