There are many places to get pizza in South Florida. But how many allow you to buy just a slice?
The numbers have been dwindling. So many restaurants want us to buy a whole pie. It’s easy to take the extra slices home, but it’s never as good as that first piece out of the pizzeria’s 800-degree oven.
So here’s a sampling of pizza places in Palm Beach and Broward counties that allow you to buy just a slice or two. All are individually or family-owned and often add in a soda or other combo to bring in some more money to their businesses. At these little restaurants, you can enjoy your slice of hot, cheesy heaven with no need to worry about the rest of the pie.
PALM BEACH COUNTY

Lots of different slice choices here in this little storefront, ranging from regular ($3.50) to white ($3.75) to chicken (add $1.25). A large pie goes for $18.25. Calzones, strombolis, pasta and subs are also on the menu.

A slice costs $3.50, two slices with a drink, $7.95. The menu also includes subs, pastas, calzones and strombolis. Said one commenter in “Let’s Eat, South Florida,” the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s foodie Facebook group: “Great friendly service and probably the largest slice I have had. What a deal at $8 for 2 slices and a drink. Will be back for sure.”

This casual little joint sells the “NY Cheese Slice” for $3.50, a Sicilian slice for $4.50 and a Veggie Slice for $5.50. Many patrons rave about the Drunken Grandma Slice, covered with vodka sauce, pepperoni, mozzarella, shaved Romano cheese and basil ($4.50). You can also get 20 wings for $26 and a meatball, chicken or eggplant parm sub for $8.

Tomasso’s claims to have the “biggest slice in Boca”: one-sixth of a 20-inch pie, which will cost you $4.50. Add a dollar for an extra topping, or make it a Garlic Shrimp Slice for $5.95. The gluten-free can get a cauliflower-crust pie for $2.95 or $4.25 extra, depending on size. This family-owned restaurant also serves a Calizza (half calzone, half pizza) for $22 and traditional Italian mainstays such as baked ziti, lasagna and chicken parmigiana (all $17.95).

A slice will set you back $3.64; two slices and a soda, $8.51. Here’s how a local foodie recommended this family-owned eatery on “Let’s Eat, South Florida”: “If you’re looking for a thin and crispy crust, check out Two Tomatoes in Boynton Beach! I’ve been hearing great things about their pizza. I finally got the chance to stop in and check them out last Wednesday for their $11.99 cheese pizza promo (cash or card). Delish!”
BROWARD COUNTY

This pizza is made with “New York water.” The all-day special includes two slices with a can of soda for $7.95. At lunchtime, there’s a half sub, slice and soda for $13.95 and a slice and soda with fries for $10.95.

A slice goes for $3.39. And the beach location is open 24 hours a day. A pizza-lover posting on “Let’s Eat, South Florida” described her slice-eating experience: “It was thin, but huge! I would’ve liked it to be more charred, but it was not necessary. It was piping hot, which I also loved.”

A slice is $3.55 in Boca Raton and $3.95 in Plantation. You may get distracted upon entry and decide to order a bigger dish. That’s what happened to a pizza-lover who reported his experience on “Let’s Eat, South Florida” recently: “My intent was to get a slice of pizza. But when I walked in to Stromboli Pizza in Plantation at The Fountains plaza on University, and saw the chicken parmigiana panini I had to give it a go. It was unbelievable. Thin chicken cutlets. Sauce, cheese and the top of the bread dusted with garlic and parmigiana cheese. 10 out of 10.”
