Amid a championship moment Wednesday, LeBron James further distanced himself from his championship past, while also putting the brakes on speculation about his potential championship future.

Prior to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship parade, James told Cleveland.com, “I love it here. I love being here. I love my teammates. Obviously my agent will take care of all the logistical things but, I’m happy. I’ve got no plans to go nowhere at this point.”

He told ESPN, “I love it here in Cleveland. I have no intentions of leaving. There are some technicalities to take care of I’ll leave up to my agent. That’s right from the horse’s mouth.”

James holds an opt-out clause in advance of the July 1 start of NBA free agency that he still could invoke in order to maximize his contract position going forward.

There had been speculation from ESPN and other outlets of James potentially reuniting with the Miami Heat, having won a pair of championships under Pat Riley before returning to the Cavaliers as a free agent in the 2014 offseason and then leading the Cavaliers to this season’s title.

USA Today also reported similar confirmation from James about a return to the Cavaliers in 2016-17.

Following the Cavaliers’ championship parade, James told a crowd chanting “M-V-P!” that he was speaking from the heart and said, “It still hasn’t hit me. . . . I’m just one man with a plan.”

James did not directly address his future in his speech to the throng in downtown Cleveland, other than to conclude with, “I love all of y’all and let’s get ready for next year.”

James all but squashed speculation about a Heat reunion when he told ESPN in the wake of Sunday’s Game 7 victory over the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena when he said, “When I decided to leave Miami, I’m not going to name any names, I can’t do that. But there were some people that I trusted and built relationships with in those four years [who] told me I was making the biggest mistake of my career.

“And that . . . hurt me. And I know it was an emotional time that they told me that because I was leaving. They just told me it was the biggest mistake I was making in my career. And that right there was my motivation.”

Despite those comments, offshore bookmaker Boavada.lv on Tuesday issued odds of James’ team for opening day of 2016-17 with the Cavaliers at 1-to-4 followed by the Heat at 5-to-1.

And on Monday, ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith said on ESPN Radio, “From what I’ve been told, the Lakers and Heat are possibilities as a destination for LeBron James this summer.”

James still is expected to become a free agent on July 1, which would allow him to either take another two-year deal to maximize his options going forward, as he did last summer, or a more lucrative long-term contract with the Cavaliers.
