Joe Benbow Obituary, Death Cause – It is with profound sorrow that we come together as a community to share the tragic news, at the request of Joe Benbow’s family, of the passing of our dear friend and running mate, Joe. Yesterday, Joe left us by suicide, and the pain of this loss is immeasurable. Joe was more than just a running partner; he was a wonderful, kind, generous, and deeply sensitive soul. He grappled with the formidable challenges of depression, a battle that often remained hidden beneath his warm and welcoming exterior.
Many of us have shared countless happy moments with Joe at events, on the trails, and in the camaraderie of the pub afterward. To say that he will be missed is an understatement. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled. In the days ahead, we will share details of Joe’s funeral as they become available. As a running community, we will find a way to properly honor his memory when the time is right. For now, we kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s need to manage the influx of communications during this incredibly difficult time.
If you wish to convey your condolences, please feel free to leave messages below, and we will ensure they are passed on to the family. At the moment, we do not have a bereavement book in place. You may also choose to message me privately, and I will compile and pass on your messages to them. We understand that this news is both shocking and incredibly tough to process. We encourage each one of you to reach out to your own support networks, lean on friends and family, and take solace in the bonds we share as a community. Engaging in activities we find meaningful, including running, can be a positive way to support one another during this challenging time. Let us remember Joe with love, compassion, and the enduring spirit of togetherness that he brought into our lives.
