Hollywood lawyer Edward O’Sheehan recently joined the law firm of Shutts & Bowen LLP.
O’Sheehan was recruited by Miami-based Shutts & Bowen, which opened a Fort Lauderdale office last year. He came from Goldberg, Young and Gravenhorst, a Fort Lauderdale law firm that in November announced it was ceasing operations.
O’Sheehan’s law practice includes matters involving creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and commercial litigation.
In 1995, O’Sheehan graduated with honors from the University of Miami School of Law. In 1992, he received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Van Orsdel Funeral Chapels has named Pembroke Pines resident E. Angel Diaz as supervisor of pre-arrangements for Broward County.
Diaz will be in charge of all of funeral, burial and cremation pre-arrangements.
He has worked in the funeral industry for six years. Diaz also is a volunteer at Miami Children’s Hospital.
Republic National Bank of Miami recently announced the selection of Pembroke Pines resident Diane Co as a management information systems officer.
Co joined the bank in 1996 as an assistant auditor and was promoted last year to programmer analyst.
She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tenn., and a master’s degree in accounting from St. Thomas University in Miami-Dade County.
In addition to her new duties, Co will continue in her current position as programmer analyst.
Dr. Rolando Garcia Jr., an orthopedic spine surgeon at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, recently performed a state-of-the-art procedure to aid patients who have debilitating back pain that cannot be treated by other means.
Garcia was the first surgeon at the hospital to perform the procedure, called Lumbar Interbody Fusion, which corrects spinal disc injuries.
The procedure takes about two to three hours.
Patients usually can walk the same day and return to work within eight to 10 weeks.
