How often have you seen this happen? Former Davie resident Corinne Kaplan embarrassed herself while trying to humiliate someone else on last night’s finale of Survivor.
Apparently trying to go the same villainess route to fame and fortune as The Apprentice’s Omarosa, Kaplan launched an ugly, insensitive diatribe against Jessica “Sugar” Kiper, who, unlike Kaplan, made it to the final three of the CBS reality show.
“You are an unemployed, uneducated leech on society,” Kaplan said to Sugar during the final jury questioning while the contestants were still in Africa last summer. Corinne went on to say the the only thing she would give Sugar are anti-depressants, so that Sugar’s crying about her father’s death would be more convincing. Sugar lost her father just before leaving for the game in Africa.
Kaplan was roundly booed by the live audience at the Survivor finale in Hollywood Sunday when her boorish outburst was replayed. Given the chance, she offered no apology and said she welcomed the negative reaction.
It’s not as if Kaplan didn’t give warning of her uninhibited tongue. Prior to the season premiere of Survivor, she said, “I have social Tourette’s. I say inappropriate things.”
Portland, Maine, teacher Bob Crowley, 57, became the oldest Survivor winner when he garnered four votes to Susie Smith’s three. Sugar was shut out in the vote of the seven jurists.
Survivor host Jeff Probst announced that the next edition of Survivor, which premieres in February, will be based in a remote region of Brazil.
What’s your take on Corinne’s conduct?
