Jordan Miller did not come to Miami as a star, but he turned into one. He and teammate Isaiah Wong became just the fourth pair of Hurricanes picked in the same NBA draft on Thursday night.
After helping lead Miami to two deep NCAA Tournament runs, Miller was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 48th pick in the second round. Wong had his name called seven picks later (No. 55) by the Indiana Pacers, becoming the first pair of Hurricanes picked in the same draft since Bruce Brown and Lonnie Walker IV in 2018.
Miller, who transferred to UM after three seasons at George Mason, played in 73 games for Miami. He averaged 12.7 points and 6.1 rebounds in two seasons.
In his final season with the Hurricanes, Miller averaged 15.3 points with 6.2 rebounds and was picked for the All-ACC second team.
Miller, a 6-foot-7, 195-pound guard, excelled in the postseason, highlighting the Hurricanes’ tournament run with a 27-point game where he made all 20 of his shot attempts against Texas in the Elite Eight (7 for 7 from the floor, 13 for 13 from the free-throw line).
Wong, a 6-foot-4, 184-pound guard, spent four years with the Hurricanes, growing into one of the top players in program history. He could have returned for one final season, but he opted to try his luck in the pro ranks.
Wong racked up 1,866 points at UM, which ranks fourth all-time in program history. He averaged 14.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists in his career.
In his final two seasons at UM, Wong helped lead the team to its two-best postseason finishes in program history. In 2021-22, he scored 15.3 points per game as UM reached the Elite Eight for the first time.
Last season, Wong averaged 16.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals, earning ACC Player of the Year honors. The Hurricanes reached the Final Four for the first time, but fell to eventual national champion UConn.
