RETZSCH LANAO CUBS 9, QUALITY SCREEN YANKEES 7: The Cubs came from behind to win with a clutch two RBI home run by Tyler Hanley. The offense was also helped by Jeremy Retzsch’s two RBI and an RBI triple by Nick Del Pozzo. The defense was sparked by a bases-loaded double play. Pitcher Nate Carter fielded a grounder and then threw home to catcher Zach Morris for the second out. Zach then threw to third baseman Ryckur Schuttler for the third out.
ADVANCED DENTAL WHITE SOX 8, SUN TITLE BRAVES 7: The White Sox’ win was highlighted by the double play of Blake Vita and the two fly balls Corey Estaban caught to end the game.

AMERICAN TRAVELER YANKEES 14, SUN TITLE AND ABSTRACT BRAVES 13: Ross Simon had a home run and Hayden Ginsberg hit a triple for the Yankees. On defense the Yankees’ David Francis relayed to Tyler Johnson who threw to catcher James Kaplan who tagged out the runner on what would have been a home run. For the Braves, Karl Warner and Matt deVaux each had two hits, while Steve Schapiro pitched a good game and Matt Hollis played well in the field.
LAW OFFICES OF EDGAR BENES MARLINS 11, WEST BOCA DENNY’S BRAVES 10: The Braves got excellent pitching from Michael Tallet to go with Daniel Alm’s home run and John Najum’s two key hits.
COLE ANIMAL CLINIC DIAMONDBACKS 8, CTX MORTGAGE METS 3: Strong pitching from Carter Phillips and Ryan Walter alongside good defensive plays by Michael Theise, Brandon Wood and George Escarpita held the Mets to three runs. On offense the Diamondbacks were led by Tyler Phillips who was 1 for 1 with two runs scored, Anthony Chadwick who scored twice and Sean Hallman who was 1 for 1. The Mets got great fielding from Connor Simms, Robert Schramm and Nick Alfieri to go along with Alan Arons’ two RBI hit.
WEST BOCA DENNY’S BRAVES 9, MARINERS 8: The Braves got strong pitching from Karl Warner to go with great fielding by Daniel Alm and John Ziegelbaum. On offense, the Braves were led by Steve Schapiro’s home run, and two big hits each for John Najum and Matt deVaux.
IBERIA MORTGAGE INDIANS 11, QUALITY SCREEN SERVICE YANKEES 8: Chase Goldbaum hit a home run and pitched two great innings for the Yankees. Chase got excellent help from catcher Dominic Gallardi who threw to Mike Braum stopping an attempted steal. Michael Heneks was 3 for 3 for the Yankees.
COLE ANIMAL CLINIC DIAMONDBACKS 13, SOLOMAN SMITH BARNEY MARLINS 3: Ryan Walter, Austin Beall and Carter Phillips each scored three runs to lead the Diamondbacks to victory. Ryan Walter was 2 for 2 with a home run, Carter Phillips was 3 for 3 and George Escarpita was 2 for 3 with two RBI. The Diamondbacks were led on defense by strong pitching from Michael Theise and Brad Segal to go along with nice plays from Anthony Chadwick at second base and Joe Wonesh at catcher.
ALUMINGLASS RED SOX 15, COLE ANIMAL CLINIC DIAMONDBACKS 9: Sean Hallman led the Diamondbacks, going 2 for 2 with a run scored, Carter Phillips was 2 for 3 with two RBI and Joe Wonesh, Ryan DeDomenico, Brad Segal and Connor Halley all contributed hits.

NATIONAL LEAGUE WEST PHILLIES 10, G.T. JEFFERS REDS 7: The Reds’ hitting star was Rand Monaghan who went 3 for 3 including a triple and three RBI. Ian Gardner had an outstanding pitching performance, striking out three of the five batters he faced.
FLAKOWITZ BAGEL INN METS 13, WINGS PLUS PIRATES 1: The Mets continued their hot batting streak with a home run by Fred Dreibholz and excellent hitting by Jake Schwartzwald, Josh Cohen, Dominic Jose, and Zach Taplin. David Bell and Jordan Sperling pitched well for four innings. Ben Taplin and Chad Ginsburg made significant contributions in the field.
FLAKOWITZ BAGEL INN METS 17, NATIONAL LEAGUE WEST INDIANS 12: The Mets’ Cole Nikodemus made an excellent catch in the field. Solid hitting by Dominic Jose, David Bell and Josh Cohen, and great fielding by Jeffrey Elmore, Vincent Biase and Brandon Milo helped secure this victory.
SALOMON SMITH BARNEY MARLINS 15, NATIONAL LEAGUE WEST METS 0: The Marlins got strong pitching performances from both starter David Bicknell and closer Scott Riopelle. The offensive stars were Doug Harris, Bicknell and Riopellle with two hits each and Andy Harris, who hit a bases-clearing triple. The Marlins’ catchers held the Mets’ baserunners in check all game long.
SALOMON SMITH BARNEY MARLINS 4, NATIONAL LEAGUE WEST YANKEES 3: The Marlins had strong pitching performances from starter David Bicknell and closer Scott Riopelle. The offense was led by a two-run home run by Brandon DiMauro and hits by Riopelle, Bicknell, Doug Harris and Brandon Weppner. Two great plays at third base by Andrew Hatton highlighted a fine defensive effort in which Riopelle, Bicknell, DiMauro, Joel Rosen and Peter Gregory all contributed.
CREDIT COUNSELING MARLINS 13, CENTER FOR HEMATOLOGY DIAMONDBACKS 0: Jimmy Leo pitched a solid three innings for the Marlins. Carlos Alvarez had a line drive catch at second and a single that drove in two runs. Cory Highley hit a home run.

FIRST UNION-WACHOVIA RED SOX 2, BOCA FINANCE CARDINALS 0: Robby Tyner had a strong game, pitching a one-hitter through six innings. Ryan Crowley led the offense with two hits. Matt Minlionica and Duron Carter also had hits and Scott Staniewicz scored both runs to give the Red Sox the win.
THOMAS E. BUSER INDIANS 4, TROMBINO BRAVES 1: Strong pitching from Mike Trombino and Ryan Tubbs was not enough for the Braves to overcome a strong Indians team. Joey Pete and Mike Frederico continued hitting the ball well, going a combined 4 for 5.
FIRST UNION /WACHOVIA RED SOX 6, THOMAS E. BUSER INDIANS 2: An entire team effort in the championship game of the winners’ bracket led the Red Sox to victory over the Indians. Evan Farren played solid defense, making two catches in right field. Ryan Crowley and Josh Murray teamed up with strong pitching and Brody Bollaci kept the Indians from running behind the plate. Duron Carter had two big hits and Evan Farren drove in two runs with a key hit to lead the Red Sox.

BOCA PHILLIES 13, METS 11: Tommy Iacometta was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI. Greg Hansen was 4 for 4 with a double. Danny Proscia went 3 for 4. Mike Navarro pitched two solid innings with five strikeouts. Ben Armas was 3 for 4 with an RBI.
BOCA PHILLIES 12, PIRATES 4: Jeff Stebbins pitched a no-hit third inning. Nike Navarro had a double. Tommy Iacometta had a double and played great defense at first with throws from Danny Bicknell and Navarro. Chris McWilliams had an RBI. Ben Aramas had two RBI. Bryan Blaylock had a left field hit and an RBI. Joey Wilcox and Danny Proscia had solid catching. Greg Hansen had a double with two RBI and closed the game with the last two strikeouts.
National League West
CUBS 8, R&R; DIAMONDBACKS 7: The Cubs made a great comeback in the bottom of the sixth inning by scoring five runs to get the win. Billy Stone knocked in the tying run and scored the winning run by stealing home. Andy Werber was the winning pitcher and Stone and Colby Burtt pitched an outstanding game. Benny Menendez, Derrick Chadwick and Matt Bly led the offense. Danny Werber and Matt Glickman caught a great game.
LANG MANAGEMENT MARLINS 12, PHILLIES 1: The Marlins played strong defense led by Bobby Gambino and Barron Caster. Key hits by Matt Singer and Steven Garcia led the way.
WINGS PLUS WHITE SOX 12, WACHOVIA-FIRST UNION DODGERS 6: For the Dodgers, Tyler Ross turned in a solid effort in relief. J.R. McCabe and Gavin Good each had two hits and Ross Epstein and Christian Porzenheim had clutch RBI singles.
WACHOVIA -FIRST UNION DODGERS 5, DREIER BARITZ MARINERS 4: Facing elimination and trailing going into the fifth inning, the Dodgers roared back to beat the Mariners in an exciting, well-played game. Mike Latorre pitched four very strong innings as the starter, and Tyler Ross pitched two scoreless innings in relief, striking out four. Gavin Good, J.R. McCabe, Josh Colucci, Arthur Frisch, Ross Epstein, Danny Herzog, and Adam Levine all contributed key hits to secure the comeback win for the Dodgers. Mike Latorre drove in the winning run with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning.
WINGS PLUS WHITE SOX 16, CUBS 8: Billy Francis and Bobby Landeck combined for the team’s third playoff victory. Justin Mezzacuppa received the game ball for his outstanding defensive effort behind the plate on a very hot day. The 11 run Sox attack in the first inning was led by Alec Grossman and Kevin Frain. William Hornbeck made his first appearance on the team after missing two months with an injury. The White Sox defense continued to shine with two double plays. Ryan Amditis threw two strikes from left field nailing base runners at third and at home to seal the victory.
LANG MANAGEMENT MARLINS 7, SAVAGE PIZZA BRAVES 5: Great defensive plays by Bradley Deiso and Hunter Duppong clinched the Marlins’ victory. Offensive power was provided by Barron Caster.

WINGS PLUS REDS 12, PROMETHEUS GROUP YANKEES 2: The Wings Plus Reds’ batting was solid across the board with 10 of 12 Reds crossing the plate. Zack Didonato and Ray Belden each had two RBI. Once again, strong pitching performances from Alan Ataman and Ray Pinault and strong defensive play from Brian Moogan, Yusniel Fernandez and Kevin Barnes advanced the Reds to the championship game.
HUTCHINGS AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS BRAVES 14, PROMETHEUS GROUP YANKEES 4: Jeremy Pridgen pitched five complete innings and held the Yankees to three runs. The whole team deserves to be mentioned because their strong effort on defense and offense advances them to the championship game.
WINGS PLUS REDS 4, HUTCHINGS AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS BRAVES 3: The Reds, managed by Joe Didonato and coached by Angelo Trento, undefeated in the playoffs, defeated the Braves 4-3 to win the 14-16 American Division Championship. It was a tremendous effort by all with strategic hits by Brandon Coca, Ray Pinault, Ryan Belden, Brian Moogen and Nicky Dimauro and strong defensive plays from Steve Ciancio, Fernando Rodriguez, Zack Didonato, Yusniel Fernandez and John Ryder, leaving catcher Kevin Barnes and pitcher Alan Ataman to maintain effective control throughout the game. The Braves kept it a close and exciting game with seven innings of strong pitching by Jeff Padfield. Joe Gerardi, Adam D’Augelli and George Dibenetto scored the runs for the Braves and Alan Thompson headed the defense.

EAGLES 34, TARHEELS 30: The Tarheels led at the end of the first quarter 6-5, but the Eagles battled back to a one-point half time lead and stayed on top the remainder of the game. The Eagles’ point guard, Scott Rabinowitz and Tarheel Josh Yanover, each had 13 points. Eagle forward Jimmy Hughes scored nine and center Chris Hoomany added another six points with five rebounds. Brett Siegel, Tarheel forward, scored eights points and swiped seven rebounds in the loss.
SEMINOLES 32, BULLDOGS 36: Adam Hogun led the Bulldog attack out of the gate scoring nine first quarter points. The Seminole offense sputtered through the quarter, scoring only four and trailed 15-4 at the close of the first quarter. The ‘Noles outscored the Bulldogs the remaining quarters but could not overcome the 11-point first quarter deficit. Bulldog guard Adam Hogun finished with 17 points and three rebounds, guards Alex Margolis and Andrew Horine chipped in five and six points respectively, and center Jerry Goldsmith added four points and five rebounds. Brandon Oakes carried the ‘Noles with 12 points and four rebounds after Michael Krause fouled out in the third quarter with eight points and two rebounds. Seminole center Nico Aquayo had eleven rebounds.

WILDCATS 43, HOYAS 36: The Wildcats pulled ahead in the last minute to beat the Hoyas. Matt Torres led all scorers with 15 and hit a three-pointer to seal the victory with 25 seconds left. Will Davidson added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats. Barry Aronin led the Hoyas with 16 points. Rene Blanco had six points and 10 rebounds.
BLUE DEVILS 52, WOLVERINES 43: The Blue Devils defeated the Wolverines 52 to 43 behind 14 points from Jay Lindsay and 10 points from Josh Aronin. Jovanny Black scored 12 and Adam Picow had 10 to lead the Wolverines, with solid defensive efforts from Jordan Widelock and Joe Smith.

McKENNA’S PLACE 12, B.K. MARINE CONSTRUCTION 6: McKenna’s Place enjoyed another come-from-behind victory. Trailing 6-4, McKenna’s Place scored eight runs in the final two innings. Brandon Hennick was 3 for 4 and had four RBI along with Andrew Semmelmeier who was 3 for 4 and had three RBI with three runs scored. Robert McKenna as 2 for 3; Joseph Lopez, 2 for 4; Nicholas Barrett, 3 for 4 with three runs scored; Zachary August, 2 for 4; Michael McGowan, 2 for 4; Collin Barch 1 for 3; and Ricky Mues, 1 for 4. Every player on the team had at least one hit.

MARINERS 7, GLORY DAYS 3: A combination of good pitching and timely hitting carried the Mariners to their fifth straight win. Jim Romano struck the big blow, a three-run homer over the centerfield fence to give them a lead they would never relinquish. Stefan Clark had three hits, including a double. Aaron Hancock banged a triple and double, and winning pitcher Bobby Knapp smacked a triple. Joe Palandro had two singles and two RBIs. Joe McKenna had a single and two ribbies. Brandon Grishaber, Sam Scotti and Brian McClellan added base hits. Knapp pitched the first five innings. Clark worked two and Mike Anders (4K) went the last two for the Mariners. Brian Barnes led Glory Days with two hits. Brian Acri, John Shaw, losing pitcher Troy Glover (0-1), Milt Muller and Rick Atkinson had one hit apiece.
INDIANS 15, CARDINALS 4: The Indians hit six homers, including three in succession in an eight run ninth inning to break open what was a close game for the first few innings. Leading 4-2 in the sixth, the Indians went ahead to stay on Rob Wiley’s three-run blast to key a five run sixth. Then in the ninth, they had back-to-back homers off reliever Dan Burkhart. After shutting the Indians down for two innings, Burkhart yielded a walk to Craig Bautz, followed by Jared Green’s two-run round tripper and solo shots by Andy Lewis and Chris Murphy. Murphy’s circuit blast was his second of the game. He had unloaded in the second off starter Vinny Casella (3-1). Billy Campbell also homered and added a pair of singles. Lewis added a pair of doubles and wound up with two RBI. In addition to his homer, Green had a single and drove in three. Wiley also had a single in addition to his homer. Matt Bautz had a pair of doubles and a single, driving in one run. Derek Alleman went the distance for the Indians to gain the win, his first decision of the season. Eddie Santora accounted for all of the Cardinals’ runs with a pair of two run homers. Louis Ortiz had a double and single. Vinny Casella hit a double that just missed going out in right field. Joe Casella, Emilio Vargas, Burkhart, Andy McFarland and Rob Hansen all collected singles for the Cardinals. The loss dropped the Redbirds out of a tie for first place and left the Cardinals and Indians tied for third, both with 4-2 records.
LOS TIGRES 9, ROCKETS 4: Los Tigres scored six runs in the sixth inning to overcome a 4-3 deficit and remained in a first-place tie with the Mariners. All of the runs were unearned as the result of a dropped third strike that allowed Steve Thomas to reach first base. Two outs followed that, but Nick Adames kept the inning going when he was hit by a pitch. Francisco Reyes doubled home Thomas to tie the score, followed by consecutive walks to Lee Luna and Ariel Rodriguez, the latter with the bases loaded. Trovin Valdez knocked in two more with a double, and Jose Yoel Perozo closed out the big inning with a two-run single. He had two other RBI. Alfonso Paradas (3-1) got the win with relief help from Jose Espino, while Dan Linton (1-2) took the loss. Valdez led the Tigres’ offense with a triple, double and three RBI. Rodriguez had two singles in addition to the bases-loaded walk, and Jesse Minton stroked a double and single. Billy Brescia had a two-bagger and a single for the Rockets. Joe Young punched out a pair of singles and drove in a run. Brandon Gallo had an RBI single and Brian Fitzsimmons a single, and knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly. Amado Dinzey had the only other hit for the Rockets. The victory was the fourth straight for Los Tigres, now 5-1. The Rockets (3-3) dropped back to .500, losing their second in a row.
YANKEES 9, MARLINS 8: The Yankees blew a 7-3 lead, but scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to edge the Marlins. Francisco Valdes opened the frame, followed by intentional walks to Mike and Ray Castelluccio to load the bases. When Valdes was cut down at the plate on a force, Mike moved to third and scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice by Esteban Cruz. Rico Perez and Herb Robb (double) led the Yanks with four hits each. Ray Castelluccio tapped out three. Yoendry Perez (triple) and Cruz (double) had two apiece; Richard Sanchez, Valdez, Bobby Humphrey, Pat Testa and Jose (Luis) Vasquez one each. For the Marlins, Todd Roman collected three hits, skipper Scott Cobb two doubles, and Vernon Sprouse two singles. Dave Miller tripled in two runs and scored on a wild throw. Joe Stone, Bob Chamberlain and Scott Chamberlain had one hit apiece. Mike Castelluccio (2-0) got the win. He pitched the first six innings. Yo Perez was touched for five runs, then Mike reentered to pitch the last two. Bruce White (3 1/3IP, 0-2) took the loss in relief.
ATLANTIC SAILS 16, PALM BEACH ROCKHOUNDS 15 (1st): Don Fitzhenry helped the Sails outlast the Rockhounds in the first of a free scoring doubleheader. Fitzhenry rapped out five hits — two triples, two doubles and a single, then got the win in relief to lead the Sails. Matt Geoffroy and Steve Aarons supplied some help. Geoffroy had a homer and single, while Aarons collected two singles and a double. Brett Siew and Matt Gray had two singles each. Mark Pollio smacked a double, and Dwight Caserta, John Guadagnino and JP Carroll had singles. Bill Golson unloaded a three-run homer for the Rockhounds but also took the loss, his first decision.
PALM BEACH ROCKHOUNDS 13, ATLANTIC SAILS 12 (2nd): It was another seesaw affair in the nightcap with the Rockhounds prevailing in this one. For the Sails, Matt Geoffroy had two singles and a double. Brett Siew and John Guadagnino picked up two hits apiece. J.P. Carroll ripped a triple, and Ken Wensel, Mark Pollio and Mike Saturno added singles. Steve Aarons (0-1) was the losing pitcher.
